Subject Leader for Phonics - Harriet Holdsworth
My name is Harriet Holdsworth, and I am the Subject Leader for Phonics. Having taught in EYFS and KS1 for the past 12 years, I have gained extensive experience in teaching phonics and supporting children as they take their first steps on their reading journey.
I believe that phonics plays a vital role in the early years of a child’s primary education, providing them with the fundamental skills they need to become confident and successful readers. Reading is an essential life skill, and while developing children’s early reading skills is incredibly important, we also want to nurture a genuine love and enjoyment of reading that will stay with them throughout their lives.
As Phonics Subject Leader, my aim is to ensure that all children are given the skills, confidence and strong foundations they need to succeed in reading as they progress through school. Through fun, engaging and accessible learning experiences, I want our children to feel successful as readers and, most importantly, to develop a lifelong love of reading.
