Subject Leader for History

My name is Jordan Gibbon and I am the Subject Leader for History. My personal interest in the subject stems from my love of travel and exploring different cultures and places firsthand.

Whenever I travel, I am always keen to uncover the local history and gain a deeper understanding of the events that shaped the world we live in today. Visiting historical sites such as Pompeii, the Colosseum, the Berlin Wall, Warsaw, and Auschwitz has given me a strong fascination with key moments in global history, particularly the events surrounding the Second World War.

My vision for History is to inspire that same curiosity in our children. I want our pupils to look at the world around them and ask questions about how the past has influenced the present. Through engaging and broad topics, my goal is to help children develop critical thinking skills, explore different perspectives, and build a solid understanding of both local and world history.

Crucially, I want our children to realise that history isn't just in textbooks, it is all around us, waiting to be discovered!
