Subject Leader for Music - Harriet Holdsworth
My name is Harriet Holdsworth, and I am the Subject Leader for Music. Music has been an important part of my life from an early age. I began learning to play the clarinet at secondary school and, in adulthood, taught myself to play the piano which continues to be a work in progress.
I believe that music is a wonderful way for children to express themselves, develop their creativity and support their mental health and wellbeing. Through music, children can explore their emotions, discover new interests and develop skills that can stay with them throughout their lives.
Learning to sing, play an instrument and create music also teaches important qualities such as patience, perseverance and dedication. I want every child to feel that music is something they can enjoy and participate in, regardless of their starting point or previous experience.
As Music Subject Leader, my aim is to provide opportunities for our children to build their musical skills, develop their confidence and express their creativity, while most importantly having fun and developing a lifelong enjoyment of music.
