Subject Leader for PSHE - Harriet Holdsworth

My name is Harriet Holdsworth, and I am the Subject Leader for PSHE. PSHE was the first subject I led in my primary teaching career and, since then, I have continued to develop my knowledge and expertise, as well as supporting other schools on their own PSHE journeys.

I believe that PSHE is a vital part of the curriculum because it helps to prepare our children for life in the wider world. It provides children with a safe and supportive environment in which they can explore important topics, ask questions and develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to make informed choices.

PSHE also gives children opportunities to develop their confidence, resilience and understanding of themselves and others. It encourages them to recognise and manage their emotions, build positive relationships and develop the skills they need to navigate an ever-changing world.

As PSHE Subject Leader, my aim is to provide opportunities for our children to build their confidence to take part in open and respectful discussions about a range of topics, while developing the knowledge and skills they need to manage the challenges and opportunities that life may present.
