Waltham Gateway Academy Uniform
Excited children who will become the first to attend our new school tried on uniforms for size.
Waltham Gateway Academy will open in September.
Each child received a voucher, worth £29, enabling them to purchase a free branded jumper or cardigan, book bag, PE top and PE bag through suppliers Uniform Direct.
Vouchers for those not at the event and with children going to the school will be included in the next newsletter, sent out via the post.
Principal Lindsay Holness remarked on the “buzz” created at the event, held at Waltham Toll Bar Academy, a member of Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust like the new school.
“Parents and carers are really excited and the children have loved trying on the smart uniform,” said Lindsay.
“One little girl didn’t want to take her cardigan off.
“The event marks another milestone as we build towards opening the schools in September.
“It has given parents a chance to chat with us again, ask any questions and for us to continue to build relationships with them.
“We have been also able to share the exciting playground designs for Reception and The Nest (the RSP), which were really well-received. They’ve watched drone footage which shows how the buildings have progressed.”
Roseanne Turner said four-year-old daughter Ellie was “so excited” about starting at the Waltham school, being built on Sunningdale in the village.
“She’s really looking forward to everything but especially making new friends,” said Roseanne. “We live across the road from the school so have watched it being built.”
Zahra McLeavy (7) tried on Waltham’s PE top and will join the school’s Kestrel Class (Years 3 and 4).
Mum Danielle explained that she and husband Craig moved their family across from Cumbria 18 months ago because of his job.
“We actually live opposite the school so Zahra’s been able to watch it being built,” she said.
Zahra said: “It’s been quite cool because I can see the school from my bedroom window.
“I really like watching the diggers. We go across when we walk our dog Clyro.”
Places are still available in Years 1 to 4s. Parents / carers wishing their child or children to attend should email either enquiries@walthamgatewayacademy.co.uk
