Waltham Gateway Academy celebrates first Boogie Woogie nativity!
This week marked a very special milestone for Waltham Gateway Academy, as pupils performed the school’s first ever nativity since opening its doors in September 2025, and what a debut it was!

Families, loved ones, staff and friends were treated to a joyful, toe-tapping performance of Boogie Woogie Nativity, a lively and modern retelling of the traditional Christmas story with a disco-inspired twist.
The production followed The Stable Stompers, an enthusiastic Bethlehem animal band made up of horses, sheep, donkeys and more, who were busy rehearsing for their big concert, but their plans soon changed when unexpected visitors began to appear at the stable, Mary and Joseph seeking shelter, angels delivering heavenly news, shepherds rushing in from the hills, and wise men following the brightest star.
Through upbeat boogie-woogie rhythms, sparkling disco-style songs, and energetic dances, the children brought the story of the first Christmas to life in a fresh, memorable and joy-filled way. Their confidence, creativity, and sheer enthusiasm shone from the stage, making the performance a true celebration of both the season and the school’s exciting first year.
Show director and Year 1/2 teacher Phoebe Aisthorpe reflected on the experience: “The children put their whole hearts into this production. They embraced every song, every dance and every moment with such excitement. For many of them, this was their first time performing on a stage, and watching them light up with pride has been incredibly special.”
Principal Lindsay Holness echoed this pride, adding: “This nativity marks an important milestone for our brand-new school. Seeing our community come together with our children, staff and families to celebrate our first Christmas at Waltham Gateway Academy has been truly wonderful. I couldn’t be prouder of what our pupils have achieved.”
As the final song rang out, one thing was clear: Waltham Gateway Academy’s very first nativity was a joyful success, full of energy, community spirit, and Christmas cheer.
If this opening year’s performance is anything to go by, the future of the school’s festive productions is shining brightly.
